CONCERT BAND/PEP BAND
Wilcox PEP Band
Concert Band is an instrumental ensemble where students develop their playing skills while performing many different types of music.
Students will learn about:
- Different musical styles
- Music history and important composers
- Music theory and terminology
- Performing as part of an ensemble
- Listening to and evaluating music
Students may also perform at home football games, concerts, festivals, community events, and other activities both on and off campus.
Students who have some previous experience playing a band instrument and want to continue improving their skills in a supportive ensemble setting.
Prerequisite:
- One year of prior instrumental experience OR
- Audition OR
- Teacher approval

Concert Band
The Wilcox High School Concert Band is a dedicated ensemble of student musicians focused on building strong fundamentals, musical expression, and ensemble performance skills. The group performs a wide range of wind band repertoire, from lyrical and expressive pieces to rhythmically engaging works. Their repertoire includes contemporary compositions such as Thawing by Kazuki Shimoda and Diminished Minor Alterations by David Lovrien, giving students the opportunity to explore modern sounds, tone color, and musical storytelling. Concert Band students perform at school concerts and community events, contributing to the vibrant Wilcox music program.
